Ohio House Bill 502 requires that anyone born on or after January 1, 1982 must successfully complete an "approved" boating education course to legally operate a boat, jetski or personal watercraft powered by more than 10 horsepower. Failure to provide proof of completion could result in a $250.00 fine.

successful completion of the examination, each student will receive their 45-day
temporary certificate and within 30 days receive a permanent Ohio Department of
Natural Resources Division of Watercraft certificate
